Membership Crowdfunder NOW OPEN

Glasgow Library of Synthesized Sound memberships are now open.
We’ve launched our crowdfunder for our second year of public access -

For less than the cost of an oscillator module, you can become a year long member of GLOSS and support the UK’s first electronic music library, providing affordable access to electronic music instruments, equipment, education and community.

Members get access to 60% off all our Open Sessions which are hosted 4 times a week and provide access to our entire library supported by a librarian - as well as 20% off all our workshops and events throughout the year. Members also receive an exclusive die-cast metal members badge.

As an independent, non-profit, artist-led and community-based organisation that receives no regular funding outside of our memberships, we rely on the support of our members and community to help pay workers fairly, pay our bills and rent, maintain the space and equipment in the library and maintain regular affordable access.

Our first year has been a whirlwind - in that time we’ve hosted four open sessions a week, over 70 events and workshops including masterclasses from some of the most important names in electronic music, peer-to-peer meet-ups, world-premiere installations and exhibitions, performances with international and local musicians sharing the stage, artist residencies, introductory workshops and we’ve even been dipping our toes into loaning equipment off-site.

As we move into year 2, we’re making plans to expand on our first one based on everything we’ve learned. As much as the instruments and equipment will always play a central part in what we do, we’ve never lost site of our purpose in providing space and time for people to connect with music, creativity and each other. Friendships have blossomed, people who’ve never touched an instrument before have become regulars, micro-scenes have developed around sharing sounds and ideas, we’ve heard music recorded in GLOSS on national radio, in exhibitions, released on international labels and toured across the world. We’ve seen complete beginners meaningfully collaborate with professional musicians and we’ve seen people from all different kinds of backgrounds, cultures, ages, abilities and levels of experience connect over music.

With that at the front of our mind, we’re developing new regular events focused on opportunities for collaboration, peer-to-peer learning, and to share, exhibit or perform work.

In order for us to be able to do any of this, we need the continued support of our members and community.

Our crowdfunder is now live and as part of that, Creative Scotland have agreed to crowdmatch pound-for-pound all contributions up to our target - So please jump on it and help us get there!!

As well as memberships, we have gift vouchers (which can be used for any open sessions or events), screen-printed t-shirts (including our year-1 and new year-2 design), residencies and more. Get your xmas presents for your pals, lovers and family now and support an independent grassroots arts organisation at the same time!

Thank you and much love from
Lewis, Suzi and the GLOSS team
