PARTNERS & SUPPORTERS

GLOSS has been made possible through the support of a growing number of individuals, organisations, artists and instrument makers. From funding our educational programmes and providing equipment to sharing knowledge, time and resources, their contributions have helped us build the library and develop what we do.

FUNDING

Our work has received support from Creative Scotland and the National Lottery, helping us deliver free educational programmes including Introduction to Electronic Music (ITEM) and Future Sounds of Strathclyde.

These programmes have provided over 200 free workshops, giving people access to instruments, education, recording facilities and opportunities to make music together.

We've also received approval for match funding through Creative Scotland's Crowdmatch programme, supporting our plans to develop GLOSS into its second year.

INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

We have an ongoing partnership with the Glasgow School of Art's School of Innovation & Technology (SIT), which holds an institutional membership with GLOSS.

This arrangement gives students access to the library's instruments and facilities, alongside dedicated sessions and opportunities to explore electronic music and sound as part of their studies.

We're interested in developing similar relationships with other educational and cultural organisations, finding ways to share resources and make the library useful to different communities.

INSTRUMENTS & EQUIPMENT

Much of the GLOSS collection has come together through donations, long-term loans and support from instrument makers, distributors, shops and individuals who share our belief that instruments are meant to be played.

Organisations who have supported the library and its activities include Ableton, Rubadub, Signal Sounds, Instruo, Expert Sleepers, Elektron, Bastl Instruments and Torso Electronics, amongst others.

We're also home to Instrument for the People of Glasgow, a modular synthesiser and sculptural artwork created by Scott Myles. The instrument was assembled through contributions from Eurorack manufacturers around the world before being donated to GLOSS, where it continues to be used and reconfigured as part of the collection.

We're grateful to everyone who has entrusted us with instruments, helped us maintain and develop the collection, or offered their time and knowledge.

COLLABORATIONS

Alongside our regular activities, we've worked with a wide range of artists, festivals, community groups and cultural organisations on workshops, performances, exhibitions and longer-term projects.

These include Counterflows, Sonica, Thinking Culture, Platform, Music Space and many others.

Some collaborations have been ongoing, others have involved a single event or project, but all have contributed in different ways to what happens at GLOSS.

If you're interested in working together, supporting the library or contributing an instrument to the collection, please get in touch.
